Workers’ Compensation Services at Easy Reach
Work conditioning and work hardening are structured rehabilitation programs designed to help injured workers safely prepare for the physical demands of their jobs. At Easy Reach Chiropractic & Physical Therapy, each program is individualized based on the worker’s functional abilities, job requirements, current restrictions, and return-to-work goals.
Our programs may include progressive strengthening, endurance training, lifting and carrying activities, pushing and pulling, bending, squatting, climbing, and other job-specific tasks. Activities are progressed according to the worker’s tolerance, functional improvement, and authorized plan of care to help prepare for a safe return to work.
Job-Specific Functional Training
For injured workers who need additional Treatment progresses beyond general rehabilitation by incorporating activities that reflect the physical demands of the worker’s actual job. Depending on the position, training may include lifting and carrying, pushing and pulling, squatting, kneeling, climbing, prolonged standing or walking, repetitive tasks, and progressive resistance and endurance activities.
Progress is monitored throughout the program, and activities are advanced based on functional improvement, tolerance, and the worker’s specific job demands. The goal is to progressively build the strength, endurance, mobility, and confidence needed to perform required work activities safely and effectively.
Progress Monitoring & Functional Documentation
Progress is monitored throughout the Work Conditioning or Work Hardening program to document changes in strength, endurance, mobility, activity tolerance, and the ability to perform job-specific tasks. Treatment activities are progressed according to the worker’s functional performance, response to rehabilitation, and authorized plan of care.
Functional progress can be communicated to the appropriate Workers’ Compensation representatives, including the treating provider, claims adjuster, or nurse case manager when required. Clear documentation helps show how the worker is progressing toward the physical demands needed for return to work.
Building Capacity for Return to Work
RAs the worker progresses, the program focuses on gradually increasing the physical capacity needed to meet job demands. Strength, endurance, mobility, lifting tolerance, and other functional activities are advanced in a controlled manner based on performance and response to treatment.
Work Conditioning and Work Hardening can be appropriate for workers returning to physically demanding occupations such as firefighters, police officers, construction workers, maintenance personnel, warehouse and delivery workers, healthcare workers, and other employees whose jobs require lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, kneeling, prolonged standing, or repetitive physical activity. Programs are individualized to reflect the specific functional demands of the worker’s job.
